Pronunciation (Phoneme Charts)
Speaking and listening are different from reading and writing: the sounds of spoken English do not directly correspond to the letters of written English. As such, we have a separate system for writing down the sounds of the English language. Each sound is represented by a symbol, and these symbols are called phonemes.
There are several good sites offering phoneme charts for improving your English pronunciation. Here are three that I would recommend.
1) The British Council China Phoneme Chart
This is from the British Council's English Online site. It is based in China, so it should load quicker than the others.
2) The British Council Phoneme Chart
This is from the British Council's Teaching English site. It is the same as the one above, but bigger and based on a UK website.
3) The One Stop English Phoneme Chart
This is from the One Stop English site. It is an excellent phoneme chart, but unfortunately takes a long time to load. Be patient, because it's worth the wait!
